On Monday September 15th I hosted the SOLID Nashville After Work(shop) Series with the top Web 2.0 and the Music Business. It began with the video "A Vision of Students" which I had suggested in order to show what our consumers are doing and how they are learning.
After that Pinky Gonzales "web guru/genius" and former big wig at echomusic, founder of Artist Media Group and Adjunct Professor teaching Creative Music Marketing class at Belmont University gave a presentation on what is "Web 2.0" and the history of the internet. Then Kami Knake New Media Manager at Warner Brothers Nashville, creator of "Bands Under the Radar" podcast presented what the industry is doing currently with the whole "Web 2.0" thing.
The second part of this podcast consists of the question and answers from the SOLID and the audience. It is a little hard to hear some of the questions but I have posted them in the show notes below.

Questions and Answers Section
Are you familiar with Filter.com?
What's the best way to get music integrated into other industries? How to present new ideas to the industry?
How do you get an established indie artist who wants an indie online presence to take it to the next level? How do you convince him to create a professional and indie online presence without "selling out" and not being amateurish?
With the advent of Web2.0 where does that leave the 12 track album format?
What about contracts? They still going by the album format? Is anybody signing shorter or longer contracts?
When does the economic reality flip the model?
More developed artists like Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails have recently been in the spotlight for their free download promotions which enabled them to make millions selling collectors packages to their super-fans, but how can the small independent artist not only survive but grow to the same "super status" without collecting revenues from album and song sales?
What are unique ways artists are using the web for promotions.

Do you think it's still important to send fans to the official website instead of a social network site?
Are very many people using other newer social network services beyond the biggies like MySpace and Facebook?

During the SOLID Nashville new member mixer I brought along the recorder and was able to grab a conversation with Chris Neese of Buzz Management. We had a good converstation about new media and he gave some insight from the management perspective.
This show runs about 20 minutes and contains an interview with Chris Neese of Buzz Management. Again, I pulled some fun local artist songs from the Podsafe Music Network.

On Tuesday I attended the my first BarCamp Meet-Up at the 12th South Tap room. I really didn't know what to expect. So I recorded a down and dirty podcast about the event. It was a good discussion about what worked, what didn't and where BarCamp Nashville going. BarCamp Nashville was held this past August at the Exit/In and is a one day technology love fest featuring blogging, podcasting, social networking, new media marketing, a little gaming and more. (Let me know if I missed something)
This show runs about 25 minutes and contains an interview with Marcus Whitney (twitter, facebook) of RemarkableWIT and Dave Delaney (twitter, facebook) of Two Boobs & a Baby Plus podcast and Emma. They are the founders and organizers of BarCamp Nashville. We cover the full gambit from success of BarCamp Nashville, to how it started, where it's possibly going and finally other plans until next year. At the end I pulled a song from the Podsafe Music Network throwing in some original music.

Episode 7 is really Episode 6 part 2 but I liked to give each artist their own show even though it was recorded the same night. Me and the Machine recording artist Brad Sweitzer finishes the show with a some folk with a twist of humor. Enjoy the show.

Another podcast show is ready for you to consume pulling a little more away from old media. Episode 6 is technically a two parter but I'm going to call 6 and 7 just because I can. We continue the Acoustic Live Series of podcasts with Me and the Machine recording artist Josh Preston. It was recorded live at Edgehill Studios Cafe in what I call midtown Nashville, TN. So close your eyes and envision a warm spring night, the lights turned down, small round tables with 3 or 4 people at each, one person on stage with a guitar and then the music begins. Enjoy.

This episode of the podcast is the first in a series of live shows. For the very first show we had the pleasure of singer songwriter Brian Ritchey. Playing to a full house at the Edgehill Studios Cafe Brian performed songs from his current EP and two forth coming albums.
At the end of the live show I asked Brian for an encore, due to the post edit on this podcast it seems like he declined. Brian did go on to perform an amazing cover of "Chocolate Jesus" by Tom Waits unfortunately due to copyright issues it can't be included in the podcast. So I guess next time you'll have to be there.
A special thank you to Blank Taylor for engineering the live show and helping with the podcast audio. You need an engineer contact Blake on MySpace.
