The Nashville Feed

7:05pm So the purchase when quick, the staff were helpful and excited. I was in and out in 10 minutes at most. Jay DeMarcus from Rascal Flatts showed up and sneaked in before a lot other people. Not cool in my book but oh well. The phone is as amazing as they say and I am looking forward to using it on vacation this coming week. I'll post a review and un-packing photos shortly.

5:38pm The Apple employees opened the doors and ran thru the line clapping and screaming slapping hands. Getting the crowd pumped. Last post until after the iPhone. See you in a bit.

5:09pm The paper covering the windows has come down. The center table has a dozen iPhone plugged in like the iPod normally are. There is a count down saying 50 some minutes left. The line is now all the way to end of the mall by Clairs. The Apple employees have handed out another round of water for those in line. One more update before I go in.

4:07pm Just talked to a guy meeting up with LeAnn Rimes assistant and picking up one for Hillary Duff. Looks like even music and movie stars have to wait. Send the assistants to wait in line. Only 2 hours left for us. Rumor: Remember the pallets we talked about earlier . Well, via macrumors they figured out that there is almost a 1000 iPhones per pallet. Meaning Green Hills Apple Store has almost 2000 phones ready for purchase. The is rumor and can't be confirmed so don't make decisions based on this.

3:47pm Speaking to the clerk at Cellular Sales an at&t reseller in the mall he thinks the iPhone will help them in the consumer area. Specifically family plans where you have a child with an iPhone and the parents add a regular phone or two to their family plan. So basically he's cool with it. The Apple employees walk through the line handing out free Starbucks cards. Its a day of goodies. They are taunting us as they go..."are you guys ready?" and stuff.

3:00pm 3 hours left until we all get our grubby little hands on that little gadget. Kind of sad we go through this just for a mobile phone. Griffin, the company that makes iPod accessories just handed out goodie bags to everybody in line. It consisting of a cup holder for you iPhone and case for iPhone or iPod. Nice. The line now is from the Apple Store and almost to the Abercrombie. How far is that? We estimate about the length of a football field. Wild.

2:37pm Reports from the AT&T store in Green Hills say there's 11 people in line. Compared to 90 or 100 at Green Hills Mall. But radar says there's spotty rain and its 89 degrees. I prefer my chances in the Mall. I'm 50 in line. There's a iChat going where people are letting others know where they are in line.

2:00pm The doors to the apple store have closed. They are now putting up paper on the windows so nobody can see what the Apple elves are doing. The line now stretches from the Apple store to Sharper Image.

1:30pm The line hasn't got much longer than before. I have a hunch it will be growing at the end of the day. The Apple store employees have been floating around the mall so it looks like they aren't too busy right now. They did pass out bottles of water to anybody who wanted them. Not cheap stuff either, Glaceau Smart Water. Someone has reported that they saw through the delivery doors two pallets loaded 4 feet high that were guarded by armed security. So we're correct that they have enough for everybody in line.

12:30pm The line continues to grow 16 more behind. Putting together information from people in line it seems like the at&t stores only have about 30 or 40 iPhones while the Apple Stores have many more. The Apple store people are real silent about how many. When we asked if there is enough for everybody they didn't look concerned.

11:00am The die hards are pretty much in line. I guess I'm a die hard fan. Since arriving only 5 more people lined up after me. Battery time left 1 hour 17 minutes. - mdave

10:00am The iPhone arrives today and I'm not the first in line at the Apple Store in Green Hills Mall (Nashville, TN). I showed up a casual 9:30 and already 50 people were in line. I'm an Apple fanboy not that die hard. I'll add photos in the gallery but its only from one angle unless I get up. Next update in about an hour. - mdave
